Minister to Adults

Rev. Rick Dietzman, Minister of Adult Discipleship

I was born in Martinez, California and committed my life to Jesus at the age of fifteen at a youth retreat.  I was greatly influenced in college by personal discipleship and the Christian small groups at the University of California at Davis, where I studied electrical engineering and spent time with other young people who had a heart to grow and follow Jesus. From that foundation came many opportunities to impact others in my early career as a Hewlett Packard manufacturing engineer, as a member of my church, and later as a missionary in Eastern Europe.

One of my life mottos is reflected in the SCC core value: “Life change happens best in small groups.” I’ve seen this principle ring true in every ministry area I’ve been involved in, so I believe that this role at SCC is a perfect fit for the way God has wired me to be.

My wife Andrea and I have been married since 1996, and we have three children. In the early years of our marriage we served as missionaries in Albania and helped start churches there. In the year 2000 we came back to San Jose California where I began serving as a missions pastor, was ordained, and completed my seminary studies at Fuller Seminary. This was an invigorating chapter of our lives as I sent short term teams out to various places around the world, helped with missionary care and also developed ministries with married couples, men and small groups. We moved to Sequim in 2007 and I've continued to enjoy the many new challenges of  overseeing the small group ministry, teaching classes and helping with our international missions efforts.

I invite you to stop by and check out one of our Sunday Seminars which usually take place at 10:15 AM and 11:15 AM here on the church campus or go to Sunday Seminars and listen to or download the seminars.
